There are presently 65 active members serving 34 scholastic football programs in Vermont. As a state-wide association, the VFOA provides officials for all freshman, junior varsity and varsity games beginning with scrimmages in mid August through the 3 state championship games in November. VFOA members also officiate at the VT - NH Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl and the Senior Bowl held at Middlebury College.
Scholastic football in Vermont is administered by the Vermont Interscholastic Football League under the auspices of the Vermont Principals Association. VIFL membership has grown in the past several years and there are currently 34 high school football programs. The VIFL and VFOA have responded positively to the challenges presented by expansion and integration of a statewide league with three divisions supported by an officials’ association of similar scale. The VFOA is proud of its heritage, record of service and ability to keep pace with progress. Continued success in recruiting, training and integrating new officials is a crucial element of the VFOA mission. Those interested are encouraged to review this website, learn more about the VFOA and contact us for an introduction to football officiating.
