VPA TRACK COMMITTEE

Members Present: Tom Conte, David Heitcamp, Mike Martin, Jon Peters, Bob Johnson

Minutes:

- starting in Spring 2007, there will be a first call and final call only (reduced from 3 calls). This needs to be in bold in the track guide and sent to AD’s in the Friday Notes as this is a major change.

- discussion on Essex Invitational as New England Qualifier. One year experiment. If weather affects the Essex Invit., then qualifying would be at the state meets the following weekend. Next year the Essex Invit. May be moved if a southern school wishes to host the NE Qualifier.

- discussion on payment of officials. Schedule presented last meeting is a recommended schedule. For this year the committee feels the costs of the certified officials should remain the same as other officials. Jon P. will check with the four sites (Essex, Windsor, U-32 and Green Mt.) to see what people have been paying for site administration and officials. He will refer the information on to Bob J. once completed.

- request presented by Jon P. to reconsider vote on Springfield HS (move from DII to DIII). Discussion. Motion by Jon P., second by Mike M. to allow Springfield HS to move to DIII Boys and Girls Track meets as of Spring  2007 and for 2007-2009 cycle. Motion approved unanimously.

- discussion on weather conditions. If state meet is postponed, meet will be the conducted the next Tuesday. Decisions are to be made by the Games Committee and the Meet Director. If an event is not completed, they will be completed the following Tuesday and count towards the championships (this means awards  will be delayed until Tuesday). This needs to be in the Guide.

- discussion on Track Guide – make sure 1st call/final call is listed. Pavel will complete the guide after this meeting.
