VPA SNOWBOARDING COMMITTEE

Members Present: Marty McDonough, Carl Backman, Patrick Burke, Bob Johnson

Minutes:

- minutes from previous meeting approved.

- 2006 season – order of events changed. Slope style went first. Went well. Good number of students qualifying for the events. Season went smoothly, however there was only one half pipe competition due to weather conditions. Caused some issue in the states as there were several competitors who had not done half pipe at all.

- 2007 season scheduling meeting will be at MSJ in early November. Burr & Burton is scheduled to host championships at Bromley. Still need to get meet schedules from Burr & Burton, Rutland, South Burlington and Black River. One possible issue this year is that Killington is under new management/owners. This may affect events there.

Pat B. willing to contact all mountains that are hosting on behalf of the committee. After the coaches meeting, Marty M. will forward contact information to Pat so that contact can be made.

Marty will get in touch with new AD at Black River to see about funds for officiating. This will be transferred over to MSJ. Marty will take care of paying officials.

- updated snowboarding guide.

- application for championship needs to be updated so that it can be done electronically. Application can then be e-mailed to the meet director.

- discussion on when hosting an event, a set up time is needed. Establish co-host to work with host and show up 1 ½ hour early to help host.
