Minutes:
- Jack
Pennypacker elected as Chair of the Committee.
- motion
by Paul W., second by Leigh M. to accept minutes of 10/15/04.
Motion approved unanimously.
- 2004-05
season.
- there was a scoring issue at the Alpine finals. Due to a
miscalculation the 1st and 2nd place teams were reversed.
- concern
expressed that at a state championship, we use students as
gate keepers and not adults. Discussion. This is the only
sport we do this in. Part of the problem is a lack of adult
volunteers. Should we consider paying individuals to do this
or should we require each school to provide a gate keeper.
Motion by Leigh M, second Paul W., “in the 2005-2006 ski season,
each school will be responsible for providing two qualified
adult gate keepers at districts and championships. The adult
gate keepers are to be included on the application and submitted
in advance of the competition.” Motion approved unanimously.
Schools who fail to do this will be assessed a fine.
- No
VPA representative at Girls state final due to rescheduling
of dates.
- Nordic
championships went fine. Costs of championships are a concern
as a timing and medal fee are included.
- at a
Spring coaches meeting, the Nordic coaches voted 8-5 to recommend
to the
Ski committee that the Nordic season be extended. Motion by
Paul W., second by
Sumner E. to extend the x-country season into the first week
of March 2006.
Motion approved unanimously.

Championships – Classical to be at Sleepy Hollow (CVU), Free
Style
at Trapps (Harwood).
