Minutes:
- Geoff
Lyons elected as committee Chair (in absentia).
- motion
by Mike N., second by Rob R., to approve minutes of 5/26/06
and
9/23/05. Vote – approved unanimously.
- correspondence
– discussion on notice from CVU that they will not be able
to
host the 2007 wrestling championships due to an illness with
the coach.
- review
of last season – everything went well at Otter Valley for
the championships. OV was glad to host and everything went
well.
Reviewed
financial report from last year. Wrestling was in the black
($2,700).
Much of this is due to a sponsorship by the US Marines ($1,750).
It appears
the Marines will be doing this sponsorship again.
- Dates
for this year
- Feb. 15, 2007 – last match
- Feb. 21, 2007 - seeding meeting
- Feb. 23/24, 2007 – state championship at St. Johnsbury Academy.
Note
– Wrestling Committee also approved Rutland HS for the 2008
championship
and that we will continue the North/South placement in 2009
and 2010.
- Scott
L. presented a proposed hydration, weight gain/loss program.
All NFHS
states are required to have an approved program in place for
this year. Motion
by Ed W., second by Rob R. to accept proposed program and
to include it as an
addendum in this years Wrestling Guide. Discussion. Vote –
approved unanimously.
Scott
L. noted that we will need to make changes on the VPA weigh-in
sheet.
A copy will be forwarded to the VPA with requested changes.
Mike B. and Scott will present new Hydration system at the
coaches meeting in late October.
- Reviewed
NFHS Rules changes for 2006-2007. Note new overtime procedures
and the changing of the 275 weight class to 285.
- Discussion
on tournament registration fees. Motion by Leigh M., second
by
Mike B. to increase fees to $75 per team and $15 per individual.
- Bob
J. will make date changes to wrestling guide.
