The Ray Pellegrini “Reach for the Stars” Scholarship. Ray Pellegrini spent 32 years in education as an educator, and administrator in the schools of Vermont. Ray was a champion for the children he served. He would ask the question “ How can we make it better for the children?” As Executive Director of the Vermont Principals’ Association he was an active advocate for primary and secondary education in the state Legislature. Through Rays’ work at the VPA he was able to reach all the children in the state of Vermont. One of his legacies is the Ray Pellegrini “Reach for the Stars” Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student for his/her second semester of their freshmen year. Students applying must meet the following criteria: a graduating high school senior, first generation college student, attending a college in Vermont, with the intention of remaining in Vermont after college. Community service and/or volunteer work will be given strong consideration. Students must complete the attached application and submit the application with a cover letter and one written letter of character reference. The scholarship application deadline is May 1, 2008.
