Activities Standards Committee Meeting Minutes
January
30 & 31, 2003
Present:
Chair, Bob Johnson, Steve Houghton, Bob Levis, Peter Coffey,
Robert Gray, Merlyn Courser, Jack Pennypacker, Glen Olson,
Shaun Pickett, Armando Vilaseca,
Dot Blake. Student Representatives: Helon Hoffer, Brittney
Larabee, Amanda Melendy.

New members
were introduced. Shaun Pickett, Dot Blake and Robert Gray.
They replace Paul Clark, Anne Evensen, and Bruce Gee.
1) Peter
Coffey was elected Vice Chair.
2) Minutes of 12/3/02 were approved.
3) Page reviewed correspondence.
4) Divisional appeals were acted on. See website. The ASC
asked staff to notify all committees who set division by #
to establish criteria for divisions in alternate manner.
5) Approved a non-member participation form as presented by
Scott Blanchard.
6) Agreed to host a conference on the female triad.
7) Asked staff to prepare recommendations to enhance the role
of committees to lessen responsibilities of staff.
8) Agreed to have all Winter Sports to start on same date,
November 17th, 2003. Boys Basketball to be first in rotation
for 2003-04 and 2004-05.
9) Approved Football realignment as recommended by the VIFL
and VPA Football Committee. (Springfield moves to Div. 3,
Lyndon and St. Johnsbury move to Div. 2, Fair Haven moves
to Div. 1 for 2003-04 and 2004-05).
10) Denied the request of Chelsea and Sharon to waive the
Public School to Public School Participation Pilot Program
to include private schools.
11) Approved a policy which assess a school a $100 fine for
submitting an incorrect application for the second and subsequent
applications. Effective for Fall of 2003.
12) Established that effective Fall of 2003 the mouthguard
requirement for contact sports will be mandatory for middle
level athletes.
