Minutes:
- Hazen
Union is appealing the decision of the VPA to forfeit two
baseball
games due to the use of an ineligible player. This was a self-reported
issue.
- David
Manning explained Hazen’s eligibility process. Basic issue
was that
a student converted a “F” to a “P” on a weekly report. The
student then
participated in three baseball games that week (two victories,
one loss).
Hazen became aware of the situation after a teacher noticed
the student ha participated. Took immediate action on the
student including suspension from school and the team. Hazen
feels that they took the appropriate action and that the rest
of the team should not be penalized for this one student’s
actions.
- motion
by D.G. Weaver, second by Kathi Bierwirth, to approve Hazen
Union’s
appeal. Discussion in Executive Session. Vote – Yes – 0, No
– 4, motion defeated. Hazen Union will have to forfeit two
baseball games. Bob J. will notify Hazen.
