Minutes:
- CVU is appealing an Activity Standards Committee ruling
that denied Josh Platt a 5th year of eligibility. Current
appeal is based on the interpretation of a VPA by-law and
the fact that the CVU Football program has been in existence
for only 3 years (2 years as a club, 1 year as varsity). CVU
feels that the ASC decision was based on a interpretation
of a “hardship”. ASC felt the situation did not meet the hardship
criteria and thus denied the appeal. CVU feels that based
on the by-law wording, ASC could have made the decision without
considering hardship as the wording allows ASC that
discretion. Discussion.
Motion
by Steve H., second by David C., to grant Josh Platt a 5th
year of eligibility. Vote – yes – 3, No – 2 Motion approved.
Bob J. will notify the school of this decision.
