The
regional and state spelling competitions are organized by teams
on two grade levels: fifth/sixth and seventh/eighth.
There are five regional competitions. The
regional winners then compete to determine the state champions at
each grade level.

Team Spelling Competition
The following schools won their Regional Spelling Bees and are advancing to the State Championship Spelling Bee being held at Northfield High School, Northfield Vermont on November 15th, 2008. Grades 5/6 will compete at 10am and grades 7/8 will compete at 1:30pm.

SCRIPPS Individual Spelling Competition
Registration deadline: October 15, 2008.
The state competition is scheduled this year for Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 and will once again be held at
St. Michaels College. The champion of this competition will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee from May 25th through May 30th
