Friday, November 30th, 8:30 to 3:00 (Champlain Room at Champlain College)
We invite school and district leaders, teachers and students, education partners, and you to our second in a statewide tour of 'pop-up' Courageous Conversations to remove barriers to equity in our schools and school systems. Over the course of the day, we will discuss bias, identity, our core beliefs, structural inequities, dreams and visions, success stories and lessons learned. The agenda is similar... and different from our May 30th summit: new voices, some new exercises, a new movie, same goals, same passion and intent. Hope to see you there.
Facilitators: Rebecca Haslam and Linda Wheatley
Monday December 3, 2018, 9 to 3 at VSBIT, 52 Pike Drive, Berlin
The day will include discussion about what information triggers a duty to investigate, the law governing school investigations, both for students and employees and a practical approach to proper investigation technique. Topics will include student and parent rights during an investigation, employment/labor law as it applies to investigations and how to navigate the investigator’s role in the context of the many legal complexities of the school environment. The program will include group exercises to practice the principles of adequate investigation. The training is designed for building administrators.
